Continuing Education Scholarship Information

Tinmouth Community Fund Continuing Education Scholarship AND

the Susan McIntosh Lloyd Memorial Scholarship AND

the Pam Garceau Memorial Scholarship

The Tinmouth Continuing Education Scholarship awarded its first grants to two high school seniors in June of 2012 and has awarded scholarships every year since.  Our total in 2025 is 103 scholarships totaling $142,450.

The Continuing Education Scholarship is for college or any learning program after high school. The application is hosted on Google Forms; complete yours HERE. With this form, you will automatically receive an email with your responses and have the ability to edit your application if needed.  If you do edit your submission, don’t forget to submit before the application deadline, April 1st at 11:59PM.  Here is the scoring rubric to help you craft your application.

A committee of townspeople reviews the applications and scores them using the rubric.  Financial need is 40% of the scoring of your application. We trust you to answer honestly and give a complete picture of your finances and need.  We are dismayed when we hear through the grapevine that an applicant did not disclose other grants they had received which reduced their need.  Yes, we are a small town.

Please apply! We have supported students of all ages pursuing full and part time college and graduate school, training programs such as lineman, yoga teacher certification, massage therapy training, and an intensive bell-ringing workshop. We are open to supporting all Tinmouth students in their pursuit of further education of any kind.

We also award the Susan McIntosh Lloyd Scholarship which was awarded for the first time in 2019. This is a grant of up to $1,500 to support continuing education in music, forestry or agriculture. This award amount is often split between more than one applicant. Citizens of all ages could apply for this scholarship to fund music lessons, forestry training such as The Game of Logging, the Master Gardener course, intensive music study or other learning related to these three topics.  This is for learners of all ages. A college student studying in any of these areas could apply for this scholarship which is included in the Continuing Education Scholarship Application.  The citizen application can be found HERE.  Lately most of our applicants are young people who want to study voice or a musical instrument.

Also If you are a Tinmouth graduating senior or equivalent, you are also eligible to apply for the Pam Garceau Memorial Scholarship which is an additional essay in the scholarship application.  This is a $2,000 scholarship.  This award honors Pam Garceau a long time employee at the Tinmouth School who believes in grit, hard work and pursuing your goals.

If you need help filling out your application or have questions, please contact us by email.  We are here to help.  All applications for scholarships are due by 11:59pm on April 1st and scholarships will be awarded in May.  Students should be preparing their applications, not their parents, especially for Continuing Education.  But having someone proof read your application is always a good idea.

Tinmouth Continuing Education Scholarship Eligibility:

1. Must be a current resident of Tinmouth, Vermont.

2. Must have applied to an institution of higher learning (2 or 4 year college) or a program offering advanced study beyond high school including trade schools, or other intensive learning opportunities.  We are flexible, don’t be afraid to ask if you are doing something we have not listed.
