DESCRIPTION:The railroad never got to Tinmouth – one was planned that would have run through the Firehouse – but David Gusakov and his son Nate  are bringing us a symbolical train. David is a play-anything musician – Vermont Symphony\, jazz two weeks before with Swing Noire\, bluegrass\, and fiddle and banjo music with his clawhammer banjo expert son Nate. They play with a lively\, toe-tapping touch\, sing with mournful sensitivity\, and exhibit a creative chemistry that can only be born of a lifetime relationship. Their music tells of the beauty and peace of home\, of delight and sadness and the wild human emotions inherent in living and dying. American music\, with a hint of rural Ukraine\, where the Gusakov family village of Zinkov lies. \nConcerts are on Friday nights at 7:30 PM in Tinmouth village  (Except Jenni Johnson is on Saturday May 12). DESCRIPTION:Daddy Long Legs is an exciting new band that will be at Tinmouth’s Old Firehouse at 7:30 PM on Saturday\, October 28\, a change from our usual Friday nights. The band is the creation of three well known Vermont musicians\, Dave Gusakov\, Rick Ceballos\, and Matt Witten. Infusing catchy folk songs\, Celtic and “old-timey” melodies\, and early minstrel and jazz pieces with passion and intricacy\, Daddy Long Legs is playful and dynamic. The three musicians play fiddle\, viola\, banjo\, gourd banjo\, piano\, guitar\, and percussion\, as well as sing. He’ll have folks singing and clapping together\, guffawing\, weeping\, whatever it takes for an audience to revel in its humanity. \nSchoolchildren throughout Vermont\, including Tinmouth\, have learned songwriting from Jon in his many school residencies. And it seems that Jon has learned from them as well. DESCRIPTION:Bill Staines opens The Old Firehouse Season \nBill Staines has been playing and singing folk music for 40 years. Most of the songs are his own\, but many have passed into music history without his name on them. Bill’s performance last May drew the biggest crowd in Firehouse history. \nBill’s music is a slice of Americana\, reflecting with the same ease his feelings about the prairie people of the Midwest or the adventurers of the Yukon\, the on-the-road truckers\, or the everyday workers that make up this land. Many of Bill’s songs have appeared in grade school music books\, church hymnals\, and scouting campfire songbooks; he is one of only a few songwriters to have eight songs published in the classic song collection\, Rise up Singing. Composer David Amram recently described Bill as “a modern day Stephen Foster…his songs will be around 100 years from now.” \nA performance with Bill has even more than his classic favorite songs. In 45 years of touring he has collected a marvelous inventory of funny stories\, which he doesn’t hesitate to share with his audiences. \nBill Staines will be the first concert in the Tinmouth Old Firehouse Concert Series\, at 7:30 on April 7. Come early! If the house is full weather may not permit outside seating. \n  \nThe Tinmouth Old Firehouse Crew is made up of eight Tinmouth volunteers who do everything from sweeping floors to writing the publicity. That’s why 90% of the donations go to the performers\, with 10% to the Town of Tinmouth towards the cost of maintaining the Old Firehouse. DESCRIPTION:Pete Sutherland and His Posse Wrap Up the Old Firehouse Season  \nThe Firehouse always looks forward to a visit by Pete’s Posse. Not a bunch of armed\, horse-riding lawmen\, it is composed of peaceful folks: acclaimed musician Pete Sutherland (fiddle\, piano\, banjo and vocals)\, his protégé Oliver Scanlon (fiddle\, mandolin\, dobro\, foot percussion and vocals) and the dynamic Tristan Henderson (guitars\, mandolin\, jaw harp\, bodhran\, foot percussion and vocals). Twin fiddles in tight\, wild harmony over high-powered guitar and pounding footwork with mandolin\, clawhammer banjo\, jawharp and rocking keyboards adding their voices to the mix. Songs and tunes\, old and new\, lyrical and driving; that’s the multi-generational heart and mind of PETE’S POSSE\, at work and at play. \nThey’ll be playing at the Old Firehouse on Friday\, October 28\, the final concert in the Tinmouth Old Firehouse Fall series. \nPete’s Posse is presenting the final concert in the Tinmouth Old Firehouse Fall series\, on Friday\, October 28 at 7:30 PM. \nThe Old Firehouse is at Mountain View Road and Vt. 140 in downtown Tinmouth. Doors will open at 7 PM. There is a suggested donation of $10 to $15\, 90% of which goes to the performers. Home made desserts\, coffee and tea will be available. DESCRIPTION:House Blend is an assembly of 20 veteran singers from Vermont and New Hampshire\, devoted to the collective exploration of the many styles of mostly a cappella singing from around the world and throughout musical history. They’ll fill the little stage at Tinmouth’s Old Firehouse on Friday\, May 27 starting at 7:30. They have visited us several times before\, filling the house with excited fans every time. \nA democratically-governed party of self-professed singing addicts\, the “Blenders” look to the artistic direction of all of its members rather than a single director\, Coming together from differing walks of life undoubtedly influences the creative energy of this ensemble. Their occupations range from teachers to a web designer\, from an airline pilot to a carpenter. The infectious welcoming energy of House Blend engages the audience with a passion for the music they sing. Their repertoire includes early music\, contemporary arrangements by local composers\, songs from American folk traditions such as spirituals\, soulful gospel songs\, hill songs from Appalachia; village music from many countries\, and anything else the singers choose to add to the mix. \nAll concerts are on Friday nights at 7:30 PM in Tinmouth village. DESCRIPTION:The Crew is so excited to have Bill Staines at the Firehouse that we almost don’t care if anyone comes but us. But we expect all the lovers of traditional American music to join us. Bill has performed all over the country since the early days of the folk revival. His songs are so familiar that sometimes people don’t know he wrote them\, including the Crew’s favorite\, the love song “Roseville Fair”. Singing mostly his own songs\, he has become one of the most popular and durable singers on the folk music scene today\, performing nearly 200 concerts a year and driving over 65\,000 miles annually. He weaves a blend of gentle wit and humor into his performances and one reviewer wrote\, “He has a sense of timing to match the best standup comic.” Bill’s music is a slice of Americana\, reflecting with the same ease his feelings about the prairie people of the Midwest or the adventurers of the Yukon\, the on-the-road truckers\, the cowboys and trappers of earlier times\, and the other everyday workers that make up this land. Hailing from Southern Maine\, Hilton Park is known in the Northeastern U.S. for earthy\, emotionally expressive and superbly crafted Americana\, Folk & Blues. Every song tells a story\, and there’s a story behind every song. Combining veteran musical & songwriting skill with teen enthusasm\, father/son team Bruce and Conor Hilton and family friend Gregg Pannier explore intimate musical textures with their sophomore release “Strings”\, digging into the roots of American Blues\, Folk Rock and Country\, while maintaining a contemporary feel that is 100% Hilton Park. \nThe Hilton Park sound is authentic and endearingly classic\, with enough modern grit to captivate today’s audience. This is a special combination: the drive of bluegrass and the original lyricism of folk\, delivered by one of the finest female vocalists in the region\, Colby Crehan. Formed in 2004 by Colby and husband Ryan (banjo player) and lead guitarist Charley Eiseman\, the group has evolved into a well-oiled machine with stunning vocal harmonies and stellar acoustic instrumentation.
