SUMMARY:The Sky Blue Boys – Banjo Dan and his brother Willy at the Old Firehouse
DESCRIPTION:The Sky Blue Boys\, long time favorites of the enthusiastic crowds at the Old Firehouse\, have revived the tradition of “brothers duets” from the 30’s and 40’s. Two fellows with a mandolin and a banjo\, a musical teamwork built of habit\, their voices fused in the special blend produced by kinship. \nWilly and Dan have built up a large repertoire of wonderful old ballads\, parlor songs\, heart songs\, songs about Vermont history\,  and sacred numbers. Heeding their own musical instincts they have expanded the accompaniment to include a variety of acoustic instruments and added many newer songs including several of their own compositions. \nAll concerts are at 7:30 on a Friday night; doors open at 7:00. We owe Tom a big turnout…last time he was here\, playing with Patti Casey\, the electricity in the Village went out at 5 PM. Tina at the Snack Bar had a generator running – the only lights in the village – and she took us in for a great concert for a surprising number of adventurous souls who came anyway. Tom plays everything from French Canadian dance tunes\, to Tin Pan Alley\, to Old Time Country\, to Ragtime to Classical\, and anything is likely to be on the musical menu. Grieg’s Hall of the Mountain King on Hammered Dulcimer? Tom can do it!\nTom was a member of the Woods Tea Company for many years\, but now keeps busy working with a number of other musicians. \nThough we’d hoped Patti Casey would be with him\, she has a family obligation that night. SUMMARY:Tinmouth Moves to Ireland for an Evening with Extra Stout
DESCRIPTION:There must be little towns in Ireland a lot like Tinmouth – a little village in the fields with a pub (ice cream as well as brew in Tinmouth) and a small hall. Old Firehouse in Tinmouth was once a Grange Hall\, but on Friday\, October 26 at 7:30 PM it will spend an evening as the Hibernian Club in an tiny Irish community.  Extra Stout will fill the hall with its Irish singing\, whistling and fiddling! \nExtra Stout is a one band Irish Festival! It’s a traditional Irish band that brings raucous drinking songs\, ballads of home and country; slow and haunting airs – and then some rocking reels\, jigs and polkas.  Six engaging vocalists lend their voices to great songs from Ireland’s rich history\, while skillfully playing a variety of instruments. (guitars\, fiddle\, whistles\, drums and\, well\, you will just have to come out and see them). \nWith a few of “our own” in the group\, Extra Stout is not to be missed!  They perform throughout the region\, and no performance space beats the fantastic acoustics of the Tinmouth Old Firehouse.  Extra Stout are great fun to see and hear – bring the whole family!  Bring your friends! \nAll the concerts start at 7:30; doors open at 7:00.
